Explanations:

INS Number: The International Numbering System for Food Additives (INS) is a harmonised naming system for food additives.

When GMP appears in the Notes: GMP stands for ‘Good manufacturing practice' (GMP). When GMP is in the notes, it means that the additive may be added to food in the smallest amount required for its intended effect, unless prohibited under individual standards under the Food Regulations.

Food additives listed under the Seventh Schedule when used as nutrient supplements should be added at levels that are safe and suitable for the target consumers, and comply with Regulations 11(4) and 252.
