Traders who are licensed or registered with SFA are allowed to import food for commercial sale in 91̽»¨.
Regardless of the nature and mode of your business, you must have a licence/registration to import food into 91̽»¨.
You are deemed to be importing food for commercial sale even if you are receiving and selling food and/or food samples by parcel posts.
Importers should ensure that the food or food products they import into 91̽»¨ meet SFA’s requirements. Certain types of food or food products (e.g. eggs) can only be imported from overseas establishments accredited by SFA. What are the main steps for importing food for sale?
Step 1: Check the classification of your food or food products
Step 2: Ensure you are eligible to apply for a licence/register with SFA as an importer
Step 3: Ensure you can comply with the import requirements and legislation
Step 4: Apply for a licence from or register with SFA
Step 5: Apply for an import permit
Step 6: Receive and print your Cargo Clearance Permit (CCP)
Step 7: Inspection of your imports (where applicable)
Step 8: Clear your food or food products from Customs
Suspension of source/exporter/importer
The source, exporter, and importer of the food or food products may be suspended due to the nature of non-compliance. Make sure you can comply with all the requirements before importing to avoid suspension.
